Scarred oak dining table made from a single slab with resin-encapsulated corner

Our London-based customers, Amy and Barnaby, came to us looking for a traditional family table with a modern twist. They visited our timber yard at the Earthy® Timber headquarters and personally picked the slab for the project. We started with a blank canvas, and used all our knowledge and expertise, along with a bit of magic, to create something special.

The outcome is an authentic design consisting of a live-edge, single-slab oak surface with a scarred corner encapsulated in resin. The table is over 1 metre wide and 2 metres long, and has been enhanced with resin inserts, which form a transparent blanket over knots and voids in the timber. This technique is ideal for those who love the natural qualities of wood and seek a solution that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also extremely durable.

We specialise in crafting exquisite practical-art surfaces that define your room; each design is tailored to your unique taste. All our slabs are vacuum kiln-dried to below 10% moisture content and are therefore suitable for internal use. This project was engineered and handcrafted at our workshop in Plumpton Green, Sussex.
